You Cant Taste the Blood By Raffy Grullon

Raffy Grullon        You Cant Taste The blood

Dear chocolate craver,

Do you know what abusive things need to be done to give you a delicious bar of chocolate? Several children have to be used as slaves and are exposed to many different things, such as machetes (Long knives), pesticides, etc.
The children who have to be used as slaves give up a lot to give you a delicious
chocolate bar  you hold so dearly to your heart. According to “Bitter Chocolate” children are abused in all ways. For example, the children are abused verbally, physically, and sexually. They also have restricted movement which means there is only a limited amount of space they can move around.
According to the article “Bitter Chocolate”USNEWSWIRE  the predominant location to traffic and migrant cocoa workers is the Ivory Coast or cote d”ivore. It is also where the majority of chocolate comes from and it is also where  most of the children are kept as slaves and abused.
As shown in the documentary “The Dark Side of Chocolate” the children are miserable and have to use machetes which they usually accidentally cut themselves with. They are also exposed to pesticides as mentioned before which are hazardous to be around and which can lead them to be poisoned and often die.
Some actions that can be taken to protest against these unfair acts is by not buying chocolate from Hershey and other big chocolate companies and buy fair trade chocolate, which is certified chocolate that was not made by children. Another thing we can do to protest is that we Support reverse trick or treat on Halloween which means that we trick or treat for chocolate and candy and hand out fair trade chocolate to spread the word that there is still child slavery in this world. We should do this so that big chocolate companies like Hershey, Snickers, Musketeers, etc. change their practices.
Before you go out to buy a snicker or Hershey bar remember you cant taste the blood but it is always in the chocolate.
