Chocolate Infestation Kimberly Palaguachi 611

   Chocolate Infestation

 Dear Chocolate Lover,
It’s important to raise your voices, but why? You have to raise your voice because we need to try and stop child labor. When the kids are in the factories it’s hot everyone is sweaty and tired. Kids are all desperately waiting to take a break. Some of the kids are slaves. Some off them get exposed to pesticides. Some of the kids don’t even get paid. The kids also handle very dangerous weapons like machetes. The chocolate we eat comes from the work of children like these.

The chocolate companies should buy fair trade cocoa
“Fair trade standards guarantee that farms receive a premium of $150 on top of market prices for each ton of cocoa that they will produce as long as they follow specific labor standards”.   The children who harvest the chocolate are in the ages of 9-12.

We could support reverse trick or treating. “There is an outrageous number of children who are suffering from horrible back pain and other ergonomic neck issues between the ages of 5 and 18 just so we can have chocolate”. Its and effort to raise awareness about the prevalence of child labor on cocoa farms in West Africa. Adrienne Fitch Frankel said. My opinion is that we shouldn’t work just to make us happy.

In conclusion, what would you do to stop child labor? Lets work together to STOP CHLID LABOR!!!!!!
